Andrew Bird Tickets - Andrew Bird Tour Dates
Andrew Bird is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrument musician whose performances have dazzled audiences for over 20 years. Known for live shows that are as mysterious as they are confessional, this Chicago native’s soulful vocals seamlessly transcend genres. With music that blurs the lines between folk, swing, pop and indie rock, Bird delivers an artisanship that only a classically trained musician with decades of experience can deliver. During his live performances, he creates a signature sound through singing, whistling, violin, guitar and glockenspiel. With an extensive list of friends and collaborators who can drop in at any time, including Fiona Apple, My Morning Jacket and Ani DiFranco, each concert promises to be a one-of-a-kind performance. In addition to performing on headlining tours across the world, Andrew Bird has appeared multiple times at festivals including Coachella, Bonnaroo and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Andrew Bird background Andrew Bird began his music career training in the Suzuki method at the age of four. He grew up outside Chicago, graduating from Northwestern University in 1996 with a degree in violin performance. A self-described “outsider” to the Chicago music scene that featured acts including Smashing Pumpkins and Liz Phair, Bird retreated to rural Illinois in the early 2000s and began recording in a barn. The pastoral environment inspired 2003’s Weather Systems, which showcased poetic, thought-provoking lyrics and Bird’s multi-instrument talents. Bird hit a groove with his 2005 album, The Mysterious Production of Eggs featuring multi-track recorders, loop pedals and layer samples as well as Bird’s signature whistling, violin, guitar and glockenspiel. Andrew Bird’s 2009 Noble Beast reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Independent Albums list, further cementing him as one of the most talented musicians of the past few decades. In 2016, Andrew Bird released his studio album Are You Serious, which boasts a complexity and polished sound missing on his earlier albums. Are You Serious features the whiskey-fueled “Left Handed Kisses,” a duet with crooner Fiona Apple. In addition to advanced production techniques, the tone of this album reflects the tenor of a man happily settling into a new chapter of life, complete with a wife and kids. Andrew Bird collaborations and appearances Since 2004, Andrew Bird has lent his talents to a variety of acts, appearing on albums from Neko Case, The Verve Pipe, My Morning Jacket and The Squirrel Nut Zippers. He has also worked on soundtracks including The Muppets: Original Soundtrack. His song “Pulaski at Night” appears in the Netflix hit Orange is the New Black.
